Jim Redman, Senior Project Manager/Senior Designer

Jim joined Water Design in 2005. Jim currently works primarily on resort property and highhigh-endidential water feature designs. Jim works closely with architects, owners, and contractors in developing an acceptable scope of work while advising on design, constructability and code issues. Jim is involved in each project from the design proposal to construction administration and final walk through. Throughout the design process Jim provides coordination and preliminary design requirements to the client and all other related project consultants to assure accurate crossover of responsibilities and accuracy of final drawings. He also works directly with health department officials to address safety concerns and to assure designs meet health code requirements. Jim is responsible for performing peer reviews and calculation checks. Jim also performs project construction observation site visits and assessments of existing pools.

Prior Professional Experience:

Jim has been involved in the swimming pool and spa industry since 1988. Jim worked over 16 years for one of the largest pool contractors in the Intermountain West. Starting as a draftsman, Jim worked his way up through several positions including pool store manager, in ground pool sales manager and lead designer, until working directly under the owner as construction manager. Jim has considerable experience in the design, construction and operation of swimming pools and spas. He was responsible for overseeing the installation of all residential and commercial pool projects through all phases of construction, and was heavily involved in working with building and health department officials through the permitting and inspection process. Jim was also responsible for project scheduling, quality control, job costing and coordination procedures. Jim was personally involved in the design and construction of hundreds of residential and commercial pool projects during his tenure.  Over the years Jim has completed several pool design courses and other industry related continuing education classes.

  • Columbia College –Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (graduated summa cum laude, member of Dean’s list)
  • University of Utah - Architecture (2 years of study)
  • Salt Lake Community College - Associate of Science (graduated with honors, member of President’s and Dean’s list)                                        
  • Salt Lake Community College - Associate of Applied Science (Architecture) (graduated with honors, member of President’s and Dean’s list)
