Design Engineer/Project Manager

Responsibilities

Water Design has a specific client base that requires a unique skill set from its employees. The Project Manager must have experience working as a project manager in an engineering or architecture firm.

The position includes planning, directing, and coordinating activities of projects to ensure that projects are completed within prescribed time frame and design- fees by performing the following duties personally or through others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Plan project execution including schedule, funding parameters, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Confers with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Reviews progress plans, documents, and status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares project plans and construction documents for management, client, or others.
  • Confers with project personnel and supervisors to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Ensure that designs meet applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Coordinates project with government regulatory agencies or other governmental agencies.
  • Meet with clients to understand client’s vision for the project and desired aesthetics.
  • Meet with clients, architects, and peer consultants from other firms to coordinate scope among engineering consultants.

Qualifications:

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience working as a project manager for an engineering or architecture firm
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience creating construction documents
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or two years of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from clients and/or coworkers.

Math Ability:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebra and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) not required but preferred. Will also consider licensure in architecture.

Software Skills:

  • AUTOCAD, BIM (Revit preferred), design software, word, excel, outlook.

  • This job may include supervisory responsibilities.
